Why I Want to Teach Online

I am currently taking my ninth course towards a Master's degree in Education with a concentration in Distance Learning. Hopefully, I will complete the degree by the end of August. I then plan to start a second Master's degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology or the MATLT. Why do I want to teach online rather than in a classroom. For one thing, I am 63. Students who see an instructor who is "old" may jump to the conclusion that I am not capable of tuning into their ways of looking at things. They may conclude that I will be "old-fashioned" in my teaching methods. When they cannot see their instructor, they can only go by what I am saying or writing to them.

My second reason for wanting to teach online is the same one that I have for earning my degree online. It does not matter where I am nor what time of the day or night it is when I sit down to do my work. I could be visiting my grandchildren in Massachusetts, or sitting in my home in Florida. It could be nine in the morning or two in the afternoon, or even two in the morning. It doesn't matter as long as the work gets done. If I was in a classroom, it would always be at a certain time and place. I have had some health problems lately but even in the hospital, I can do my work as long as I have a computer available. I will insert a video taken when I was in the hospital in January to show that I am able to do my work anywhere.
